Target Shooting
General Rules
INSURANCE: Members are required to have a minimum of £2 million Third Party Liability insurance cover. Membership of CPSA, SCTA, BASC or similar organisation provides civil liability cover on their block policy as a benefit of membership.
LIABILITY: Neither shoot organisers, landowners nor any sponsors will accept responsibility for the loss, damage or injury to persons, their property, vehicles or their effects (including guns) when visiting the Ground.
NON CERTIFICATE HOLDERS. Report to the office before shooting. Must be accompanied by an instructor, competent club member or certificate holder.
GUESTS. Members’ guests may practice at member’s rate for a maximum of three visits. Thereafter visitor rate will apply..
SAFETY: All CPSA safety rules will be strictly observed. Shotguns must be unloaded and kept in sleeves whilst travelling between stands. When the gun is out of the sleeve it must be broken, or in the case of semi-autos, have working parts to the rear or show a safety flag. Guns may only be loaded when in the stand.
HEARING & SIGHT PROTECTION. The wearing of appropriate hearing and eye protection is compulsory for shooters, referees, coaches, ground staff and spectators.
CLAY TRAPS & ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT. Shooters must not interfere with Clay Traps, Control Boxes, Claymates and wiring etc.
COACHING: During competition, no coaching will be permitted while the competitor is actually in the shooting stand.
COMPETITIONS: All Sporting competitions will be held to CPSA rules for English Sporting. Practice birds are not allowed.
CARTRIDGES: No shot weights above 28g (1oz) or larger than size 6.5 are allowed. Anyone wishing to purchase cartridges should have their shotgun certificate in their possession. Both felt and plastic wads are currently permissible. Home loaded/BP are not.

LIVE GAME: The shooting of live quarry at Braidwood is not permitted. Anyone caught doing so will be banned.
DRESS CODE: Whilst casual attire is acceptable, during competition bare flesh under skeet vests and camouflage clothing is not. Bad language and abusive behaviour will not be tolerated. Please do not put us in the difficult position of having to ask you to leave.
ORGANISERS RIGHTS: We reserve the right to change or amend the rules and or prizes without notice.
NON CERTIFICATE HOLDERS ONLY: It is an offence for a shooting range operator to knowingly allow persons who are banned under section 21 from using guns at the range, whether or not there is a section 11(6) permit in operation.
BY SIGNING THIS APPLICATION I DECLARE THAT I AM NOT A PERSON PROHIBITED FROM POSSESSING FIREARMS OR AMMUNITION UNDER *SECTION 21 OF THE FIREARMS ACT 1968. A note of the provisions of this act follows:
Any person who has served a prison sentence or youth custody for a period of more than 3 months, but less than 3 years, is subject to a 5 year prohibition from having firearms or ammunition in his or her possession. A person who has served a prison sentence or youth custody for a period in excess of 3 years is prohibited for life.
